Homotopy Classification of Lens Spaces for One-relator Groups with Torsion

چکیده
Let Ξ be a one-relator group with presentation & — ($i, •" ,%n R ) where R is not a proper power and p ^ 2. Then given any integer q, relatively prime to p, we can construct the Lens space ^(pf q) for Ξ from the cellular model C(&) of the presentation & by attaching a 3-cell via the attaching map R — 1, which generates the ideal ZΞ(R — 1) « τr2(C(^)). In this paper we classify these Lens spaces up to homotopy type. We also discuss the noncancellation aspect of these Lens spaces.

A fake lens space is an orbit space of a free action of a finite cyclic group on a sphere and as such it is a generalization of a classical lens space. The invariants of fake lens spaces described here are their homotopy groups, homology groups, a certain k-invariant, the Reidemeister torsion, the ρ-invariant and certain splitting invariants. We survey the classification of fake lens spaces whi...

متن کاملThe Outer Automorphism Groups of Two-generator, One-relator Groups with Torsion
The main result of this paper is a complete classification of the outer automorphism groups of two-generator, one-relator groups with torsion. To this classification we apply recent algorithmic results of Dahmani– Guirardel, which yields an algorithm to compute the isomorphism class of the outer automorphism group of a given two-generator, one-relator group with torsion.
متن کاملCobordisms of Homotopy Lens Spaces
We show that any 3-dimensional homotopy lens space M that is simple-homotopy equivalent to a lens space L(p, q) is s-cobordal to this lens space. It follows that M has the same multi-signature as L(p, q) and the action of Z/pZ on the universal cover of M embeds in an orthogonal action on S. We study here 3-dimensional manifolds that have a finite cyclic fundamental group. All such manifolds are...
متن کاملCellularization of Classifying Spaces and Fusion Properties of Finite Groups
One way to understand the mod p homotopy theory of classifying spaces of finite groups is to compute their BZ/p-cellularization. In the easiest cases this is a classifying space of a finite group (always a finite p-group). If not, we show that it has infinitely many non-trivial homotopy groups. Moreover they are either p-torsion free or else infinitely many of them contain p-torsion. By means o...
